Jelly For The Babies’ One Of A Kind imprint returns welcoming Jero Nougues back to the label for his debut single. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the Serbian imprint in July of this year with a remix of ‘Shell Ghost’ by Mad Bear. Also owning releases on Balkan Connection, PHW Elements and The Purr, Jero now returns to One Of A Kind for his first single alongside remixes from Dustin Nantais and Kamilo Sanclemente & DaBeat.
The original mix makes an impact immediately with mystical vocal elements and nicely laid out percussion. Feeling mildly cross-cultural at the outset, the momentum picks up quickly with powerful bass stabs and trippy electronics, eventually leading to an emotive break where a more fully realized theme comes to life. As the atmosphere rises, those teased elements evolve with soulful strums and spiritual overlays, before a hefty drop brings you back into the vortex.
Dustin Nantais is first up on remixes and once again delivers a massive overhaul which complements the original beautifully. Anchored by a heavy, almost nasally sounding groove with oodles of shape it’s definitely a creation that carries a massive presence. The emotive elements do balance it out nicely though, particularly during the main break where the cross cultural themes elevate the mood, setting up the return of that hip swinging groove perfectly. Creative work from Dustin as usual.
The release concludes with two of the progressive scenes brightest stars in Kamilo Sanclemente and Dabeat. The Colombian duo make great use of the main elements during the break but it’s ultimately the strength of the first and third acts which really make this such a dance floor delight. Powerful yet groovy and with just a enough trippy flair to fill your pleasure centres along the way, this is likely another remix bound for the sets of Hernan Cattaneo so you know it’s one not to miss. Excellent remix from Kamilo and Dabeat, capping off an outstanding release from One Of A Kind. Highly recommended.
